From Ceremony to Last Dance: Wedding Musical Format & Songs by Ryan Grant – Wedding Saxophonist, Singer & DJ

There’s something incredibly magical about being part of someone’s wedding day. Over the years, I’ve had the absolute honour of performing at countless weddings, each one unique, emotional, and full of love. As a wedding saxophonist, singer, and DJ, I don’t just play music—I help create unforgettable moments that live on in the hearts of couples and their guests for years to come.

With so many amazing reviews behind me, I’ve built a reputation for bringing versatility, class, and a personal touch to every celebration. Whether it’s an intimate ceremony or a full-blown evening party, I curate the soundtrack of the day with care, love, and a deep understanding of the emotions and energy that flow through a wedding. In this article, I’ve hand-picked some of my favourite choices for the various parts of the day which may feature when a Wedding couple books me for an “All-Day Wedding Package”.

The Ceremony – Romantic and Timeless

The ceremony is all about emotion. This is the moment where it all begins—where the vows are spoken, the happy tears fall, and the love is palpable. I love playing “Can’t Help Falling in Love with You”, “A Thousand Years”, and “Can You Feel the Love Tonight” during this part of the day. These songs are gentle, romantic, and full of sentiment. Whether performed on saxophone or sung live, they set the perfect tone for walking down the aisle or signing the register.

Drinks Reception – Swing, Sophistication & a Touch of Charm

As guests enjoy their first toast to the happy couple, I shift into swing and Rat Pack classics to keep things classy yet fun. Songs like “Love and Marriage”, “Something Stupid”, “That’s Life”, and “Ain’t That a Kick in the Head” add a suave, vintage vibe that gets people smiling, tapping their toes, and ready for what’s to come. It’s about keeping the energy light, elegant, and full of style.

Wedding Breakfast Part One – Saxophone Serenades Over Dinner

While guests are enjoying their wedding meal and conversations are flowing, I often perform a handpicked selection of romantic jazz standards and easy listening covers on the tenor saxophone. These gentle, soulful tunes create a beautiful ambiance—unobtrusive yet deeply atmospheric. From timeless classics like “Misty”, “The Way You Look Tonight”, and “What A Wonderful World”, to tasteful instrumental versions of modern love songs, this background music adds a refined, luxurious feel to the room without ever overpowering it.

Wedding Breakfast Part Two – Creating Connection with Sing-Along Classics

Between the mains and desserts is the perfect time to get everyone involved. This is where I love to bring out the sing-along anthems that connect generations and get everyone in the room engaged. Think “Angels”, “Country Roads”, “Sweet Caroline”, “Can’t Take My Eyes Off You”, and “I Want It That Way”. These tunes are absolute crowd-pleasers. I’ve seen tables of strangers become friends over these songs—it’s always a highlight of the day.

Evening Party – Dance Floor Ready

As the sun sets and the lights dim, it’s time to party. My evening sets are designed to keep the dance floor packed from the first dance to the final encore. I sing bangers like “You’re My First, My Last, My Everything”, “December 1963 (Oh What a Night)”, and “I Wanna Dance With Somebody”, the vibe is all about celebration, movement, and joy. I tailor the set to match the couple’s vibe, always reading the room to keep the momentum going strong.

DJ’ing Between Live Sets

When I’m not singing or playing the Sax, I read the room accordingly to pick the right song for every moment. I can play any style or genre of music. Understanding the guests and demographic is key to picking the right choice, but the classics always go down well! Some of my favourites include older songs such as “Young Hearts Run Free”, “Proud Mary”, “A Little Respect”, “Love Train”, “Is This Love”  to more modern choices “Mr Brightside”, “Give Me Everything”

Ibiza Sax & DJ Set – Late-Night Wow Factor

Once the evening snacks have been served and the party kicks into high gear, I bring out the Ibiza sax vibes—one of the most talked-about parts of what I do. It’s live saxophone mixed with uplifting dance tracks like “Freed From Desire”, “This Girl”, “World Hold On”, and “Jubel”. It’s the kind of set that creates unforgettable memories and epic videos—hands in the air, smiles all around, and a real “we’ll never forget this night” kind of energy.

Every wedding is a story—and music is the heartbeat of that story. I feel incredibly lucky to help couples shape those once-in-a-lifetime moments. Whether it’s gentle melodies as you walk down the aisle or high-energy sax-fueled DJ sets that close out the night, I bring passion, professionalism, and a whole lot of love to every event. Ultimately, your wedding is personal and whilst the above choices and format is my tried and tested approach in terms of style and genre, I always like to ensure the music is personal to you.

If you’re planning your big day and want music that captures the emotion, the elegance, and the energy—you know where to find me.
